NEW ROLE AT HONEST TOIL - Social & Community Editor

We’re looking for someone to carry the day-to-day voice of Honest Toil: running socials, and shaping its stories, visuals and community.
3 days/week · Employed (open to freelance)
Location: Remote (UK-based), with some London - or UK-based - moments where useful.
ABOUT US
Honest Toil started as a personal harvest in a family grove in Messinia, Greece, and slowly grew into what it is today.
For over 10 years, Tom and Juli have done the work themselves alongside the local community, staying close to the groves, the local press, and the process. From how the olives are harvested to the artwork on the labels, the focus is always on flavour, craft and collaboration, rather than growth, scale or hype.
Over time, Honest Toil has organically grown a quiet cult following among professional chefs, bakers and home cooks. It is now at a point where the work of telling its story, and looking after the community around it, needs more hands.
THE ROLE:
We’re looking for a Social & Community Editor to take day-to-day ownership of how Honest Toil appears publicly, in words, images and tone.
You’ll run our socials and community, carrying how the brand is written, seen and felt across our channels. This is a hands-on, editorial role where you’ll think, write, post, edit and engage, and turn real moments in kitchens, groves, restaurants and homes into content and conversations.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Brand and the founders on brand and editorial direction, but with a high level of trust and autonomy.
The role is 3 days a week to start, with room to grow into a broader partnerships, events and collaborations role over time.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Editorial & ideas
- Own and shape the Honest Toil voice across socials, DMs, newsletters and blog
- Come up with content ideas, angles and formats
- Find and tell stories in everyday moments (people, places, processes)
Content creation & publishing
- Plan and run a simple content calendar
- Capture content in real settings (phone is fine)
- Edit short-form video (Reels, Stories) and basic visuals/graphics
- Publish content end to end
Community & relationships
- Run day-to-day community management (DMs, comments, resharing)
- Turn restaurant visits, tastings and collaborations into content
- Interview chefs and collaborators casually and comfortably
- Help build and evolve recurring content series
Learning, iteration & growth
- Stay close to food culture and hospitality
- Track what’s working and adapt
- Gradually take on more responsibility around collaborations and partnerships
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who is already embedded in the food world, and:
- A strong writer and storyteller - copy is central to the role
- A good visual editor with a clear point of view
- Able to plan, create and publish content independently
- Comfortable owning both ideas and execution
- Curious, culturally switched-on, and community-minded
- Happy talking to chefs and working in real kitchens
- Organised, self-directed, and calm under light chaos
Experience in food, hospitality, food media or a culture-led brand is a big plus. A connection to Greece and Greek culture is a definite bonus, but not a requirement!
